Using marginal gains to rethink storage, delivery and dispensing of tablet medication.
My proposed intervention is the idea of reducing waste by 1% in every area of the blister packet. Using circular economy principles, I investigated the material, ink and glue, packet shape, pull tabs, the box and how creating universally used icons helps to reduce waste.
I have created a new system to produce less waste overall in packaging, dispensing, and delivering of medicine. To encourage the user to recycle, instructions, printed in soy ink, are easily visible in the open box.
Specifically for over-the-counter use, each medication is represented by a recognisable icon and colour to clearly identify the medicine and reduce consumer mis-use. These icons would be globally used and a required design element of the packaging.
